The SPROM-NT_2K_XP.EXE file is a self extracting ZIP file. Execute SPROM-NT_2K_XP.EXE to unzip the installation files to a specific directory. 2. Use install.bat to install the device driver and setup the NT/2K/XP registry. 3. Reboot the P.C. once this is done. This will start the "RJSprom" device in the 'Automatic' startup mode. FIRST TIME: MANUAL 1. The SPROM-NT_2K_XP.EXE file is a self extracting ZIP file. Execute SPROM-NT_2K_XP.EXE to unzip the installation files to a specific directory. 2. Copy the rjsprom.sys file to the %windows%\system32\drivers directory (%windows% is the windows directory which is usually something like c:\winnt\system32\drivers). 3. Double click on the rjsprom.reg file to register the program in the registry. 4. Reboot the P.C. once this is done. This will start the "RJSprom" device in the 'Automatic' startup mode. UPDATE: 1. The SPROM-NT_2K_XP.EXE file is a self extracting ZIP file. Execute SPROM-NT_2K_XP.EXE to unzip the installation files to a specific directory. 2. Copy and overwrite the existing copy of RJSprom.sys in the C:\%windows%\system32\drivers directory. 3. Select "Programs". Select "Accessories". Select "System Tools". Select "System Information". Select "Software Environment". Select "drivers". Scroll through the drivers and find the rjsprom driver: Name: rjsprom Description: RJSprom Type: Kernel Driver State: Running Status: OK If the state is "Stopped" or the status is not "OK", something is wrong. Try to re-boot and then check again to see if the driver State is now "Running". If you cannot find the rjsprom driver or if it is not working properly, re-install it, but first remove the driver from the registry. To remove the driver from the registry: Go to the Start Menu. Select "Run". Type "regedit" without the quotes. Look in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\rjsprom directory (folder). If you cannot find the rjsprom directory, it did not register properly. If you see the rjsprom directory but you want to try to re-install the driver, delete the rjsprom directory in the registry. To check to see if the driver was registered properly: Go to the Start Menu. Select "Run". Type "regedit" without the quotes. Look in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\rjsprom directory (folder), and you should see five lines; (Default, ErrorControl, Group, Start, and Type). If you cannot find the rjsprom directory, it did not register properly. If you see the rjsprom directory but you want to try to re-install the driver, delete the rjsprom directory in the registry. The only other thing to check is to make sure that the rjsprom.sys file is located in the %windows%\system32\drivers directory. ************************************************************************************************************** NOTES FOR WINDOWS NT 4.0 ------------------------ Device Driver Operation and Startup change Instructions: -------------------------------------------------------- 1. Shutdown the "RJSprom" device driver: Use "Control Panel - Devices" to stop the "RJSprom" device. 2. Startup Options: The "RJSprom" device driver may be shutdown or configured to start manually by using the "Control Panel - Devices - Startup" to change the startup method for the driver
